So Here We Go

Welcome to my first real attempt at blogging.

Not too long ago I sat in a Multimedia classroom while working on my secondary teaching license when we were informed per a class requirement we would be creating a blog. I was fully aware of what a blog was, I wasn't that far recluse to the days of the brick cell phone circa Zach Morris and Saved By the Bell, yet I was quite unaware as to why people actual produced them.

For our assignment we had to post weekly on our blog in the format of "What, So What, Now What" (which I hated with all my heart, yet I find myself assigning my students the same form of reflective writing, I know nice, huh) to reflect what we had learned in class. Oh, I dreaded my blog! I found myself on Sunday nights at 11:45 quickly typing whatever nonsense I could spill out in 15 minutes before the midnight deadline. My distaste for blogs was magnified due to my aversion of the forcing of technology into my simple life. I saw myself as far too sentimental to succumb to the ways of the 21st century.

Rewind to this afternoon, January 18th, 2011. I'm sitting reading the book Aspergers in Pink while at the children's museum with my sweetheart while our children play, and I turn to him "I think I'm going to start writing a blog." He chuckled a bit, (it is a rare occasion that he doesn't giggle at me through out our days) then replies that I need to actually write on the blog to actually have a blog. So here I am writing on a blog (Is that the proper term? Writing on? or is it Writing in?).

Now my earlier quips in regards to technology and blogs have not necessarily changed, so much as they have been introduced to a different perspective. A different perspective that I am willing to put into application today. I do it today not for a class or for a grade but for myself, and for my daughters, and for other's out there that might experience the same One Short Day that we do.
